Market Manager
The first of two long weekends is on the doorstep. Hurrah. Juicy giant strawberries, asparagus, and other yumminess await you at the market.
Alys has started making the Christmas cakes, that means get your orders in for the silly season.
Check out this giant lettuce grown by Golden Mile Produce. Only one needed to feed a large weekend gathering.
This Sunday we have a few more stallholders returning to the market. Back are the Nutt Ranch, She Shed, and Minghettis, who alternate with the Snail House Bakery.
Labour weekend is traditionally the time to get the gumboots on to plant out the vegetable garden and add bedding plants for summer colour. The soil temperature is rising, and threat of frosts disappearing. See Helen from Helen’s Garden Plants, and Karen from the She Shed for advice and a great plant selection. To get you in the mood, this interview with Xanthe White on RNZ has more inspiration.
The kid’s area is back too. A fun place for the little ones to hang out while you sip your latte, catching up with friends and family.
We wish Margaret from Traditional Country Preserves all the best in her well earned retirement. Many of you will know that it was Margaret’s last market last Sunday. She has sold the business and is looking forward to a little bit of travelling and says "I also hope to be able to find time to spin and weave again. She’s been selling her preserves at the market for more years than she can remember. “I’ll still be coming to the market; I just won’t need to get up at 5am on Sundays anymore,” she says.
We’re open every Sunday from 9 to noon, rain or shine.
See you once gates open, from 8.45am.
Please read on to be the first to know what's happening, directly from our stallholders.
Pedro is bringing his yummy spiced apple with walnuts and raisin empanadas. Try them.
Thanks, Pedro
Strawberries are back, full of the BIG, sweet juicy flavour that everyone enjoys from Golden Mile Produce strawberries. We will have lots of lovely lettuce ready for your long weekend salads too. We sold out last weekend so don't be late this Sunday!

There are different brands of these small electric clippers on the market and I am frequently asked if they can be sharpened. Yes they can and now with all the spring growth it’s a good time to get them sharpened.
I have sharpened a few of these recently, which gives better cuts and is easier on the motor.
If you have these or any other tools or utensils that need sharpening come and see me at the Marlborough Farmers’ Market.
cheers Ron
