Unfortunately our first busker got called away to a fathers day celebration, however the Marlborough Sounds Barbershop Chorus came gave us a great harmonious chorus, to finish up with
Verve flowers have been planting seedlings and nurturing Tulips and Stock. They are very close to having enough flowers to start attending the market. This years flowers are looking amazing!

Long Acre is on holiday, so we wont be seeing them till October.
I made a delicious Steak Pepper Stew, using rump steak(500gms) but you could use any stewing steak , toss the cut up meat in fresh ground peppercorns (about a tsp) and put aside. Finely slice 1 onion and sauté off with some garlic and chillies to taste, add 1 tblsp of butter. Once nicely amalgamated add the meat and give a quick browning. Then slowly mix in some beef stock about 1 and half cups. To that add 1/2 tblsp Worcester sauce, 1 tsp Dijon mustard . Chop up some potatoes around 250gms and mix them in. Leave to simmer until meat is tender and potatoes are cooked. You can add some cream if you wish at the end, and parsley to finish. If you want to really step it up you could add smoked paprika, and brandy/cooking sherry/red wine. Check seasonings and add salt and more pepper to taste.
I served this with some Minghetties rye bread and of course a glass of red wine.

SharpAs Tool Tip
Two of the many hedge trimmers I do maintenance on and sharpen. Whenever I have a powered hedge trimmer to sharpen. the first step is to dismantle the cutting blades and clean. This gives best access to get a good sharp edge. Once sharpened the blades are oiled and reassembled. This results in a better, smoother, easy cutting action. Easier on the machine and you.
See you at the Marlborough Farmers’ Market on Sunday. Your tools will thank you!
Cheers, Ron
