The rainy weather is forecast to take a break from Saturday. Good timing for Anzac weekend, as Minghettis are coming along with Anzac biscuits and other treats.
For those loving a bite of brunch at the market, have you tried Rood Food’s Pate baguettes yet?
Rood Foods latest creation is a combination of what they do best, a grilled baguette with a generous serving of Rood Food Chicken Pate topped with tasty Apple and Raisin Chutney and pickled red onion. Swing by the Rood Food stall this Sunday to snag yours.
Pair your scrumptious brunch with a hot or cold drink from the experts and take a stroll to find some bargains. Garden Bees 3kg raw honey full of antioxidants is a good buy this Sunday. If 3kg is too much for you, why not share it with friends and family?
It’s high season for aubergines. Margaret from the Gourmet Deli is sharing her favourite aubergine recipe for this time of the year, published in her 700 recipe, 400 page lifestyle cook book, The Real McHugh - in this newsletter.
Eating in season is good for the wallet. If you want sweet, juicy melons, now is the time. See Golden Mile for ripe, local rock and watermelons. But you will need to be early.
Unfortunately, or fortunately, global shipping makes some produce available all year round. Most weeks we hear consumers comment about prices of produce that is not locally in season. It's easy to forget that being on shelves at shops does not necessarily mean it's grown here. Our message: Avoid buying pricey out of season produce. By buying from the Farmers’ Market you are ensuring that you are getting locally grown, in season, better for your pocket produce. You can even have a chat to the farmer about how it’s grown.
We are pleased to share that there is proof that
you could save by buying at the farmers' market – please tell and bring all your friends.
This Sunday’s busker is 16 year old Holly Fortune from Nelson. Holly is a singer/song-writer, learning a range of instruments. She enjoys all genres and is an avid performer. You may have seen her perform at the Nelson Country Music Awards, Nelson's Got Talent, at The Boathouse, private local events and busking in Nelson.
Although now in Nelson, Holly’s roots are Marlborough.
“My family have a strong connection with the Marlborough Farmers’ Market. Both my parents were a part of creating the market and it has always been my brothers’ and my second home,” Holly says.
“I'm thrilled to return to sing for you all this Sunday.”
Take a peek at our website homepage, to see which stalls will be attending. We update this page on Saturdays.

Pedro is having spiced apple with walnuts, raisin in a maple syrup sauce. They go very well with a cup of coffee.
Thanks, Pedro
Get yourself a bargain honey bucket.
For a short time, we have 3 kg buckets going out for $30.00, includes multiflora and meadow varieties.
We also have a new local bush honey to try. Come and find out more at the stall on Sunday.

Autumn is the perfect time for planting. The soil is still warm and there is not a high risk of frost (just yet). Plants get a chance to put down some root growth before they hibernate over winter.
We have a selection of dwarf and smaller growing natives at the market which are perfect for small gardens. We are also taking orders for larger quantities and larger growing plants such as Griselinia and Pittosporum. Come and talk to us about any contract growing that you need done for riparian planting and native windbreak options.
See you on Sunday.

After a little Easter break, we are happy to join the market this week with our usual selection of Sourdough Bread and a new one: The Turmeric & Black sesame Bread.
We'll also bake Chocolate Chip Brownies Cookie and Traditional Large Anzac Biscuits along with our popular Fisherman treat and Sbrisolona, an Italian traditional almond crumble enriched with jam.
Wishing you a good long Weekend!!!
Ciao Ciao, Marco & Silvia
YOGHURT CHIPS. New this week, very tasty, very healthy.
When the munchies creep up it can be very tempting to reach for a bag of crispy, salty, greasy and unhealthy chips.
How about some very healthy yoghurt chips instead. The health benefits of yoghurt are numerous. It is nutrient rich with Calcium and vitamin C and also contains Phosphorus and Potassium. It may also help to regulate Blood Pressure.
The Yoghurt chips I have created come in four different flavours:
They are so easy to snack on and so very good for you.
See you at the Market on Sunday. Alys

Autumn and winter are good times for pruning. Pictured are some of the many pruning tools used to keep your garden in good shape.
A question that I am asked is can I sharpen hardened pruning saws. Yes I can sharpen all pruning saws including hardened.
If you have any tools, knives or utensils come and see me at the Marlborough Farmers’ Market.
Cheers, Ron
This recipe has kindly been shared by Margaret McHugh from the Gourmet Deli.
Margaret published a 700 page, 400 recipe lifestyle book last year, which includes this gem. It's available from the Gourmet Deli.
You’ll need a Golden Mile Produce egg plant, fresh tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, oregano, salt and pepper to taste.
Great accompanying a main dish or on its own.
Enjoy
