SharpAs Tool Tips

When out hunting or doing other outside activities, keeping a knife sharp in the field is important. In common use is a small steel that can be carried easily. The common way of using this steel was to bring the blade down towards your hand. Always a potential to slip and cut your hand severely. A safer way is to hold the steel as shown and travel the steel away from your hand. The steel shown has a SharpAs steel guide to make steeling easier and safer. If you would like to discuss this or need any tool sharpened come and see me at the Farmers’ Market.

cheers Ron

This week’s recipe brought to you by Viavio

The Tiramisú

Serves 6:

  • 400g ViaVio Mascarpone
  • 6 Eggs yolks (Koromiko Free Range)
  • 100g Raw sugar
  • Cocoa powder
  • 300g Savoiardi biscuits
  • 4 Espresso Coffees

Prepare 4 espresso coffees, pour in a bowl and let cool down. In another bowl whip yolks and sugar until thick and creamy. Beat in the Mascarpone. Dunk the savoiardi in the coffee mixture for a second or two, making sure they don’t turn soggy.

In a serving dish alternate a layer of mascarpone cream and a layer of savoiardi. Repeat and finish with a cream layer. Sift cocoa evenly over the top. Cover and chill for at least 8 hours before serving.

A ViaVio yogurt glass jar makes a lovely serving dish too.
