Summer’s started at the Marlborough Farmers’ Market…

Howdy everyone.  Sorry we’ve been a bit quiet of late in correspondence – we’ve unfortunately had a few online technical difficulties recently.  This hasn’t stopped the Sunday stallholders though – the Farmers’ Market is terrific with over 25 stalls laden with delicious Spring/Summer produce.  So come on down this Sunday and treat yourself to a gourmet breakfast, some strawberries, a delicious goat cheese, or a beautiful bunch of peonies.  Don’t forget that on the following Sunday 12th it’s A&P so we’ll be on a break.

We’re back outdoors with a bang – fabulous regular, seasonal and new stalls make up the glorious Summer Farmer’s Market.  The goats are all back in milk – so we welcome back Kaikoura Cheese and recent award winners Cranky GoatPinoli have finished harvesting and join our regular nutters – Riverina and Nutt Ranch.  Baking is superb at Mississippi and Lola’s (you must try the almond croissant).  Enjoy some fresh strawberries from Hedgerows, limes from Limrose; and healthy veg from HarwoodsSpudz n Greens, and Field Fresh.  Free range eggs are at Koromiko, Traditional Country Preserves have a great range of jams and chutneys, and newcomers Hawkesbury Peonies are selling gorgeous bouquets.  The Information Stall has new asparagus, and a new range of delicious olive oils and garlic to accompany their Marlborough Sea Salt.  Don’t forget to grab a great coffee at Koffie or Ritual to go with your brunch from Feast Merchants or Gourment Deli (see this week’s temptations below).

  • Jam biscuits – homemade and delicious

  • The very very popular date scones, without butter or sugar

  • Scots mutton pies traditional and homemade pork pies

  • Just picked garden asparagus and feta quiche – a great size for two to share

  • Sticky chicken street food served with red rice

  • Fresh asparagus and fresh salmon omelette – a great favourite and made with fresh farmed Koromiko eggs

  • Roasted strawberry shortcake

  • Fresh Apple shortcake served with cream or yoghurt

  • Blueberry and white chocolate bread and better pudding
